5Best upgrade for your XRL
By Stephen G Cox
Stock tank was only getting me 80 to 90 miles before reserve. I can now get 200 before reserve. Its wonderful to be able to ride for hours without having to worry about running out of gas.
The tank is plastic. Its not as pretty as the stock tank, but its functional and people that know bikes recognize the upgrade and compliment it. I've heard you can put stickers on the tank to make it look pretty, but don't do it as the sticker bubble up since the tank is plastic.

Suggestion on install: toss out the rigid wire they supply to use as a lower bracket and instead cut a couple pieces of 5 inch x 1/2 inch aluminum and fabricate your own brackets. Its an easy mod and it looks and works great.
Oh yeah, this tank has a second reserve...kinda... Like many large gas tanks it hold gas to each side of the tank. When you run out of gas, it still has a small amount in the right half of the tank that can't reach the fuel valve. All you need to do is lean the bike ov er to get it on the left side and you will now have a little extra to run on. This is common on all large aftermarket tanks. Its kinda reassuring to know there is a reserve to the reserve gas tank.
