1Poor Build Quality
By Iron 883
I purchased a set of these FWD controls and was very disapointed when I received the package due to its poor craftsmanship, build quality, and instructions. I even asked Amazon to ship me a second one to see if the faulty part described below was a one-off but, unfortunately, it wasn't.

Search Wikipedia for "Spline (mechanical)" before you read the next paragraph if you don't know what a splined surface is. The picture which shows "splines on the end of a transaxle" shows a good visual representation.
Here's the problem: The metal, silver-colored, shifter shaft which comes out of the Sportster's transmission (a circular rod with splines at the end) is attached to the shifter peg arm with an Allen-head fastener (not the end where your toes are, but the opposite end of that part). The Raider piece which has a similarly splined surface has a poorly drilled hole for the said Allen-head fastener. That hole goes through the splines of this piece (which I must al so mention was chrome for some reason). Because of the way they drilled this Allen-head fastener hole, it ended up creating a burred surface through several splines which did not allow for the two pieces to slide together. Thus, you can't install the two together. This is Manufacturing 101: "Deburr all sharp edges."

If you're still confused, bring this review to your local shop along with your bike and they can explain it. You are, after all, about to drop a serious coin on this, right?

As others also said, the instructions are very poor. It's not a hard assembly to install if you have a limited shop knowledge and basic tools, but a little more detail and a few more pictures wouldn't hurt. I'm a metal design engineer on a US military fighter jet, and even I can't follow them.

Check out these guys' website... not sure if the first Google result is them, but if it is, the poor quality layout says a lot.

Lastly, the assembly as a whol e looks and feels cheap (like said website). If you're spending this kind of money on aftermarket components, at least get something that has a better look and feel than the OEM. Pony-up and buy the real deal from Harley, it's not that much more.

Again, as others said, the actual foot pegs are terrible -- both look and feel. If I did end up installing this on the bike, I'd be looking to replace the pegs immediately.

I must say, I'm fairly disappointed to see that after a detailed phone explanation to Amazon of why I ended up returning both sets of these FWD controls, they are still allowing for this product to be sold.

2Raider 30-6050 Sportster Forward Control
By Gus
The picture for this item shows a master cylinder. There was no master cylinder with this item. Also, it shows a removable brake peg. The item comes with the brake pedal and pedal arm in one piece. I also think this forward would be prone to quickly wear out and would not hold up if the bike tipped. They were light weight aluminum. The mount(s) fitment for the Sporty looked okay and I believe it has an extension of 2-3 inches.

I returned the Raider 30-6050-B because it was not like the item in the Amazon ad.

4Outstanding for the Money!!!
By s13_marine
For half of what Harley-Davidson charges, this is a great kit. I don't care much for the foot pegs or the shifter peg, but those are easily changed. Install was a breeze, despite the intstructions being a little vauge. For future installers, the mount that is curved MORE, belongs on the RIGHT side. The instructions do not specify. Other than that, install was straight forward. All mounts, linkages and hardware were installed without modification. There is a slight bit of "slop" in the brake pedal and shifter levers. I solved this by installing a thin washer and slop was gone. Overall, glad with the purchase and the money I saved to do other mods.
